Kingdom Kids International and its social media strategy

For my capstone I decided to create a social media strategy for a Christian organization called Kingdom Kids. Kingdom Kids is a non-profit organization that seeks to responsibly achieve holistic community development through investing in the mentality, education, and well-being of both children and young adults in Haiti. Kingdom Kids is a newly developed missionary organization whose been in need of new missionaries down in Haiti. My plan is to create a social media strategy plan to communicate to their target audience of the organization's need.

As far as my research goes, I will be focusing on how the use and techniques of social media in a recruiting process effects the development of a ministry. Well in order to figure that out, I first have to understand the different techniques that are being used. One of the techniques that has been used by ministries was developed by understanding the concept of who the target audience is. According to my research, the ministry's first aim into creating their audience is to reach out into the community. The reason for that is because each user is highly selective on social media, and only views material they choose. So in order to be effective on social media, ministries should demonstrate interest and commitment to the local community first. Certain ways they can go about doing that is by frequently posting local issues, events and concerns that are going on. This is a great method to get users to get interested. This would be a great method for Kingdom Kids to implement by posting issues and concerns in the Haitian Community that they would want people to be aware of.

This method is very effective as it allows you to gain influence on social media. The more follower you would gain will then allow you to also share about the ministry, sensitively positioned without the use of jargon. Once, we find out who our followers are, we have to figure out what platforms they mostly use so we can begin with the recruiting process.

Considering the target audience being from the ages of 18 to 40 year olds, I can conclude that its best fit would be in this order: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. These three platforms are the most used platforms for these age groups.  Facebook is still the biggest social network out there that allows you to search for people, grow your organization, and market goods and services. Next up is Twitter. The best way to communicate and interact with your audience on this platform is its use of hashtags. This technique will attract job seekers and expand the reach of the content. With Instagram, we can share pictures of the ministry and its stories. It’s a great marketing and branding tool that will add to the ministries experience.

By considering the target audience and the platforms they use, it will allow us to use the social recruiting process more effectively.
